This is a quick post of something very special to me…If, you spent much time with me in the 3-4 years, I’ve probably filled you in on idea; a dream,

“There will be a shoot one of these days [once I have the space] that will allow me to do a certain type of shoot that’s cool. Haha, basically it involves human parts, and a 3D form…something like that.”

For those of you that got more than that, I apologize, haha.  I’ve wanted to do something about this for years now, and now that a new year has come about, why not start!?

I love photography;  it’s potential, its vision, and obscurity.

I plan to keep this idea going until the “Big Finally”, and I hope you join me on this venture…

Thank you @brookeshaden, @jeremycowart, @missaniela, for selfless education and information. Can’t wait to bring myself to life.

With the nostalgia, and high, still lingering from the wedding I shot 2 weeks earlier, I woke up this sunny, October morning with a certain ease and longing to be back at it again; lucky for me, that’s exactly how I was going to spend the day.  Becca and I jumped in the car and started our journey south to Columbus.  Windows down, jamming to great tunes, and passing the exit for our own wedding venue from 6 months earlier was quite enough to get us in the mood for yet another great day doing the greatest job in the world; photographing a couple on one of the most important days of their lives.

We arrive at the Hilton, and with my fedora in place, I see Christy (the bride, my cousin) getting out of the car.  Looking beautiful as ever, we begin the day; the rest is history.

The beauty of what we do is in the fact that we get to shoot strangers who later become Loved Ones, however there’s a true honor in shooting a Loved One who adds another to the family.  Christy and Chris, I thoroughly enjoyed your special day and can’t express my gratitude enough for allowing me to see your moment through a lens.  Love you guys; hope you enjoy these as much as I have.

Great job guys!! Enjoyed our walk in the park; pretty in love with this set!  The lighting that afternoon was sick! Enjoy!!

I was very nervous going in to this particular shoot as I was not only venturing into practically uncharted territory, but photographing very dear friends as well…

I had a blast!!! 

I got to spend the entire morning roaming around an awesome house I spent a good deal of my childhood playing in! What more could one ask for really;  morning sunlight gently kissing the interior of the  house, autumn leaves painting the background, and a beautiful couple about to welcome their first addition to the world.  

Thank you guys so much for letting me take part in such a special time in your life. I can’t wait to watch Little Nora grow into a beautiful woman.  I hope you love this set as much as I do!  You guys are the best and I love you both.

Wow…what to say about this couple, this wedding, and the emotional attachment I have with these images.  This is most sincere attempt…

This marked my first wedding whereupon I came to meet two complete strangers, and after two shoots, I walked away being a better person for having met them.  From the moment I was greeted at their front door by James ( “Cotey” ) to shoot their Engagement pictures, I knew I had met some very special people.  It took only 2 hours of walking a colorful path to the river for me to not only call them incredible clients, but friends as well.  It was then that I became utterly ecstatic to photograph their wedding; I knew an insanely fulfilling celebration was headed my way in the near future.

My assumption could not have been more correct…

We started the day off in a cozy Buckhead salon with incredible mid-morning light seeping in as if to invite us all into the mood, and prepare us for the awesomeness to come.  The mood itself was pure lavender in essence; I felt an overwhelming calm flow through me as I watched Christy’s transformation from a beautiful woman to a beautiful bride. Christy was cool, collected, and has been ready for this day since Cote placed a hand-made grass ring upon finger. (so cool by the way )

The events that followed: make-up, guests arriving to help set up, group hugs, and words of praise from their friends and family completely swept me away… Everything flowed seamlessly.

The true beauty of what I get to do has never been overwhelming until this day.  I not only photographed two people that are incredibly in love, but I learned from them as well. I want to thank you both for bringing me in and allowing me to attempt to capture the feeling that was ever-so present that windy October afternoon.

As I edited this set, although the colors were amazing, I truly felt that seeing them actually took away from the overall feeling.  With permission from them both, I decided to strip it to the core, and only post in black and white.  Sometimes, I feel as though a lack of color allows us to really look at an image, take in the action, and process the moment. I truly hope this shines through.

Chisty + Cote, I am truly blessed to have been a part of such an incredible event.  I really did learn from you both; you’ve taught me to stay true to myself and my craft, and if nothing else, to always “Celebrate Love”.

This weekend was just phenomenal.   Engagement sessions usually last about 2 hours tops, and in my experience have always been somewhat local.  So when Alissa, Doug, and I decided to schedule a session in beautiful Savannah, GA my excitement grew tremendously!  I feel as though we all got to know each other very well over the weekend, and it really felt more like a vacation than anything else.  We walked the town, sipped on some suds, cracked some delicious crab legs, jammed to some old tunes, and relaxed on the beach; seriously…can it get any better!?

I couldn’t be more pleased with how this shoot turned out and I can’t wait for the wedding next June!  You guys are such a cool, beautiful couple.  Thanks again for a killer experience.

What better way to venture down a new path than by getting started with people you know & love.  I have finally taken the plunge into, what most would consider easy, the realm of Family Portrait Photography!  (Never been more nervous, haha…) I had a blast!  It was a beautiful morning in Grant Park with a 5K brewing in the background, and the sun peaking through shades of grey to cast an amazing golden glow over the  ”hint of” fall colors throughout the park landscape.  It was such a joy spending my morning with Nicole, Kris, and little Charlotte.  I hope they enjoy the images as much as I do, and I’m looking forward to seeing where this new path takes me.  Love to all; please enjoy a small handful of some of my personal favorites from the day!  ;)

Happy Birthday, Charlotte!
